Cancellation and Billing Rules to Check
EA says EA Play on PC through EA app can be canceled from the EA Account. The path is EA Account, Subscriptions and Memberships, EA Play, then Cancel membership. EA says customers with Steam, Epic, PlayStation, or Xbox memberships should contact that platform's support team for cancellation and billing help.
Important current rules:
| Topic |
EA guidance |
| Recurring billing |
EA says recurring subscriptions renew until canceled |
| Trial billing |
EA says a free trial can begin charging when the trial expires unless canceled before the trial ends |
| Access after cancellation |
EA Play Terms say access continues until the end of the current subscription period after cancellation |
| One-platform rule |
EA Play Terms say purchasing on one platform does not give access on another platform |
| EA app payment methods |
Depending on location, EA app memberships can use credit card, PayPal, or EA Wallet |
| Brazil |
EA says EA Play memberships on EA app in Brazil are not recurring and can be bought as stackable continuous memberships |
| EA Wallet |
EA Wallet funds can be added only with an EA Gift Card; a secondary payment method can be used for renewal if Wallet balance is short |
| Price change |
EA Terms of Sale say EA gives at least 30 days' notice before changing a recurring subscription price |
For a cancellation complaint, include the membership platform, next billing date, screenshot of the cancellation setting, cancellation confirmation, and the first payment statement after cancellation.
Current EA Play Plans and Pricing
EA's U.S. EA Play page currently lists:
| Plan |
Public price |
Main difference |
| EA Play monthly |
$5.99/mo |
Play List access, select new game trials, member rewards, and 10% discount on eligible EA digital purchases |
| EA Play annual |
$39.99/yr |
Same membership billed yearly |
| EA Play Pro monthly |
$16.99/mo |
PC-only on EA app, with premium editions and select new releases |
| EA Play Pro annual |
$119.99/yr |
Same Pro membership billed yearly |
EA Play is not a streaming service. EA says games must be downloaded and installed, and Play List titles require an internet connection on first launch and periodically afterward to confirm active membership.
If the complaint is about price, compare the public price, checkout price, taxes, currency conversion fees, platform fee treatment, renewal date, and email confirmation. EA's Terms of Sale say payment providers may apply currency conversion or processing fees, and EA is not responsible for those provider fees.
Refund Review and Withdrawal Rights
EA's cancellation help says EA Play memberships are not refundable, with exceptions under certain circumstances. One listed example is upgrading from EA Play to EA Play Pro on the EA app, where EA says the remaining paid time on the original EA Play membership is refunded.
EA's Terms of Sale also say there are generally no refunds for EA Content purchased from EA unless expressly authorized by EA, subject to applicable law. For the EEA except Germany, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, EA describes a 14-day right of withdrawal from date of purchase or EA Play membership. EA also says using an EA Play membership benefit or downloading entitled content within those 14 days can remove that withdrawal right.
Use a refund review when:
- EA Play renewed after a completed cancellation
- EA Play Pro upgrade did not credit remaining EA Play time
- the membership was purchased on the wrong platform
- a platform support record says the charge was an error
- a trial converted even though cancellation was completed before the trial ended
- regional withdrawal or consumer rights apply
For a card billing error, the FTC says the written notice should reach the card issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Use the issuer's billing inquiry address and include copies of supporting records.
The platform matters because EA Play benefits and billing are not portable across every storefront. EA says purchase of EA Play on one platform does not enable access on another platform.
| Purchase route |
Complaint point |
| EA app or EA.com |
EA Account membership tools and EA Help are the primary route |
| Steam |
Steam Support handles account management, billing, and cancelation |
| Epic Games Store |
Epic Support handles account management, billing, and cancelation |
| Xbox |
Microsoft/Xbox support handles subscription billing; some online features can require Game Pass Core, Standard, or Ultimate |
| PlayStation |
Sony/PlayStation handles subscription cancellation; PlayStation Plus can be required for certain online Play List features |
| Xbox Game Pass |
EA Play on PC can be included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass; the EA app is still needed to use the benefit on PC |
For platform-billed complaints, attach both records: the platform receipt and the EA Account or game screenshot showing what benefit is missing.
Missing Games, Trials, and Member Benefits
EA's troubleshooting page gives several important limits that should shape the complaint.
| Issue |
EA guidance to check |
| Early trial time lost |
Trial time continues if the game is left running in the background |
| Trial reset request |
EA says EA Advisors cannot reset or add more early-trial time |
| Platform trial support |
Steam, Epic, PlayStation, and Xbox support teams also cannot reset or add more early-trial time |
| Missing membership content |
Confirm the same account used to join EA Play is signed in and linked correctly |
| Removed Play List title |
Games can be added or removed; removal dates can appear on the game details page or in Library |
| New release expectations |
EA Play Pro includes select new releases; EA Play may not include a new release |
| DLC access |
DLC tied to a base game may not be usable after membership ends unless you own the base game or rejoin while it remains in The Play List |
| Long inactivity |
EA says if an EA Account has not signed in for 35 months, EA Play can be canceled at the end of the current billing cycle |
For a missing-game complaint, provide the exact title, platform, account, membership status, region, library screenshot, Play List screenshot, and linked-account state. Ask EA or the platform to confirm whether the title is included for that platform and region on that date.
Account Linking and Security Complaints
EA Play access often depends on the EA Account being linked to the correct platform account. If the wrong EA Account is linked, billing may be correct while the player still cannot see benefits in the expected library.
Document:
- EA Account email
- platform account ID
- purchase platform
- membership type
- linked account screenshot
- platform receipt
- affected game or benefit
- error message or missing library entry
- support ticket from EA and the platform
If the issue involves a locked, banned, suspended, or compromised EA Account, separate the access complaint from the billing complaint. EA's User Agreement says EA may suspend, restrict, terminate, remove, or revoke access for violations, subject to applicable statutory refund rights. Use the appropriate EA Help appeal or account-security path and keep the membership billing record attached.
Privacy and Data Requests
EA's Privacy and Cookie Policy was last updated June 23, 2025. EA points users to the My Privacy Rights portal for access, deletion, correction, opt-out, privacy appeal, and related privacy requests. EA also says users may download a copy of EA Account information from the EA Account "Your EA Data" tab.
Use the privacy route for:
- access request
- deletion request
- correction request
- advertising opt-out
- account data download issue
- child account privacy issue
- appeal of a privacy rights decision
- data protection officer contact
For a privacy complaint, include the EA Account email, request type, location, date submitted, verification status, response received, and the action still needed.
