How to cancel EA Play through the correct billing owner
Web cancellation
Cancel EA Play through Web
1Identify the EA Play platform
Sign in to your EA Account at myaccount.ea.com using the credentials you used to join EA Play. Open the Subscriptions and Memberships tab and look for an EA Play entry. If you don’t see EA Play there, your membership is likely billed by Steam, Epic, PlayStation, Xbox, or Xbox Game Pass, and you’ll need to cancel it using that platform’s account or support tools instead of EA Account settings.
2Open that platform’s subscription management
If EA Play appears in your EA Account, stay signed in and keep the Subscriptions and Memberships tab open. Select the EA Play tile to open its dedicated EA Play tab, where you can view Your membership and Billing information, including membership type, billing frequency, and your Next billing date.

3Select EA Play
On the EA Play tab, review the Your membership section to confirm you are managing the correct EA Account and membership. Check that the status shows as Active, verify the payment method, and note the Next billing date so you know how long access will continue after canceling.
4Turn off renewal and confirm
In the Your membership section, choose Cancel membership (or, if shown, Manage membership and then the cancel option). EA will redirect you to the EA Play Cancel membership page in your browser, where you select Cancel membership again and confirm. After confirmation, your membership remains active until the Next billing date shown in your EA Play tab, but no further EA Play charges are taken unless you reverse the cancellation before that date or sign up again from the EA Play website.
PlayStation cancellation
Cancel EA Play through PlayStation
1Open the platform subscription settings
In a web browser, sign in to your PlayStation account, then open the Subscription area of your account management. This page lists your active PlayStation subscriptions, including EA Play if you joined it through PlayStation Store.
2Choose EA Play
On the Subscription page, locate the EA Play membership entry. Open its details so you can see its current renewal status and membership period, confirming you’re about to change the correct EA Play subscription.

3Turn off recurring billing
Next to your EA Play membership, select the option labeled Turn Off Auto-Renew. Sony uses this term instead of “cancel,” but it tells PlayStation Store to stop automatically renewing EA Play after the current paid period. If you need the membership ended immediately rather than at period end, EA instructs you to contact PlayStation Support and ask them to cancel it.
4Confirm the end date
After turning off auto-renew, review the EA Play entry again to confirm it now shows an expiration date instead of a renewal date. EA explains that when you cancel, you keep EA Play benefits until your membership period ends; after that, you lose access to The Play List and trials unless you purchase those games or rejoin.
Xbox cancellation
Cancel EA Play through Xbox
1Open the platform subscription settings
In a browser, sign in to your Microsoft account and open the Services & subscriptions page. This page lists all recurring subscriptions tied to your Microsoft account, including EA Play if you purchased it directly through Xbox or the Microsoft Store.
2Choose EA Play
On Services & subscriptions, find the EA Play membership row and choose Manage. This opens Microsoft’s management view for that specific EA Play subscription, where you can see its current status and billing dates.

3Turn off recurring billing
Within the EA Play management view, use the option that cancels the membership or stops future recurring billing so Microsoft will not charge you again after the current paid period. EA’s guide summarizes this step as selecting Cancel your membership; the exact label may differ slightly by region or Microsoft interface.
4Confirm the end date
Return to the Services & subscriptions list and confirm that EA Play now shows an end or expiration date rather than an upcoming charge. EA notes that when you cancel, you keep EA Play benefits until your membership period ends; after that, Play List games and trials are no longer available unless you buy them or subscribe again.
Refund policy
EA Play refund overview
EA’s official guidance makes EA Play memberships largely non‑refundable, with specific exceptions for EA Play Pro upgrades and certain pre-order scenarios on EA’s own storefronts. Console and third‑party store refunds always follow those platforms’ policies.
Check my refund options- Membership fees are normally not refunded
- EA’s cancellation article and EA staff summaries state that EA Play memberships are not refundable in general. While there may be limited exceptions, you should not assume you can recover membership fees for forgetting to cancel on time; instead, you must contact EA Help or your platform to see if any exception applies.
- Upgrades to EA Play Pro trigger a partial refund
- When you upgrade from EA Play to EA Play Pro on PC, EA specifies that it will refund the remaining paid time on your original EA Play membership to the payment method you used to purchase it. This refund relates only to the unused EA Play time that is being replaced by the Pro plan.
- Game purchases follow the Great Game Guarantee
- The Great Game Guarantee, described on EA’s returns-and-cancellations page, covers eligible full game downloads purchased on the EA app or EA.com. It sets out conditions for returning games but does not make recurring EA Play membership charges automatically refundable.
- Pre-orders for EA Play Pro games can be refunded pre-launch
- EA’s pre-order guide states that if you pre-ordered a game that is included with EA Play Pro, you can cancel that pre-order via your EA Account and receive a refund for the game any time before launch. Canceling EA Play Pro later will then end access if you have not also bought the game outright.
- Console and store purchases use their own refund systems
- For EA Play memberships or games bought through PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic, or other retailers, EA directs players to those platforms for billing questions and refunds. EA cannot process refunds for purchases made outside the EA app or EA.com.
For edge cases—such as regional consumer-law rights or complex upgrade and refund histories—have a specialist review the EA Play terms for your country and the relevant platform’s refund policy before relying on reimbursement. Review EA refunds and Great Game Guarantee
Where you joined EA Play
Platforms, billing owners, and linked accounts
EA’s documentation uses the platform where you joined EA Play to determine who controls billing, cancellation, and support for your membership.
EA app memberships live in your EA Account
If you joined EA Play or EA Play Pro through the EA app on PC, the membership appears under the Subscriptions and Memberships tab of your EA Account, showing type, status, billing frequency, and payment method. You manage and cancel these PC memberships from this EA Account page.
Steam and Epic memberships are managed there
EA explains that if you joined EA Play on PC through Steam or Epic, you will not see that membership in your EA Account settings. Instead, Steam or Epic are responsible for account management, billing, cancellation, and any related support, so you must use their tools and policies.
PlayStation and Xbox bill console memberships
For EA Play on PlayStation or Xbox, the console storefront owns billing and subscription management. EA’s PlayStation article and the cancellation guide direct you to PlayStation or Xbox Support for price information, billing questions, and some cancellation scenarios, rather than to EA Help.
Game Pass tiers bundle EA Play access
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include EA Play as part of the Game Pass subscription instead of a separate EA Play charge. EA’s Game Pass article and FAQ clarify that to stop charges for this bundled access you must manage or cancel your Game Pass plan with Microsoft.
Memberships are platform-specific
EA notes that while EA Play is available on multiple platforms, benefits and discounts apply only on the platform where you joined. Canceling EA Play on PlayStation won’t change any separate EA Play membership you might hold on Xbox, PC, or another store.
After you cancel
What happens to games, trials, and discounts
EA’s cancellation and PC membership guides outline precisely which EA Play benefits continue until expiry and what stops afterward.
Access continues until your membership period ends
EA states that when you cancel EA Play, you retain access to all EA Play membership features until the end of your current membership period or Next billing date. Your Next billing date is shown in the Billing information section of your EA Account’s EA Play tab.
Play List games stop working after expiry
Once your EA Play membership expires or you cancel it, you can no longer play games that are only included through The Play List unless you buy them separately or rejoin EA Play. Some titles may still appear in your library list, but they will no longer be playable without an active membership.
Your game progress is preserved
EA notes that you’ll keep your game progress as long as you don’t manually delete your save files. If you rejoin EA Play after canceling or purchase the affected games outright, you can resume play from those existing saves.
Discounted purchases remain yours
According to EA, any purchases you made using your EA Play member discount—such as full games or add‑ons—are yours to keep even if your membership expires or you cancel it. Ending EA Play only affects access to games you did not directly purchase.
EA app library entries may linger
On PC, EA explains that some games may remain in your EA app Library until your membership expiration date even after you cancel. You can remove them immediately by opening the Library, choosing the game, selecting Manage, and then Uninstall.
Refunds
EA Play membership and game refund rules
EA separates canceling EA Play from refunding charges and describes only a few narrow situations where money is returned.
EA Play memberships are generally non-refundable
EA’s cancellation guidance states that EA Play memberships are not refundable, with only limited exceptions under specific circumstances. Forum summaries by EA staff point back to the same help article and to EA Help for any case‑by‑case review, rather than promising refunds for late cancellations.
Upgrading to EA Play Pro includes a partial refund
When you upgrade from EA Play to EA Play Pro through the EA app, EA’s Pro upgrade article explains that you’ll be refunded for the remaining paid time left on your original EA Play membership, with that refund sent to the payment method used for the original purchase.
Great Game Guarantee covers game purchases, not fees
EA’s returns-and-cancellations page clarifies that the Great Game Guarantee applies to eligible full game downloads bought on the EA app or EA.com. It describes conditions for returning games, but it does not convert EA Play subscription fees into generally refundable transactions.
Pre-orders for Pro-included games can be refunded before launch
If you pre-ordered a game that is included in EA Play Pro, EA’s pre-order article says you can cancel that pre-order through your EA Account’s Order History and receive a refund for the game any time before it launches. Canceling your EA Play Pro membership later will then remove access if you didn’t also buy the game separately.
Console and store refunds follow their policies
EA repeatedly notes that if you bought EA Play or a game through PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Epic, or another retailer, you must contact that platform for billing issues and refund questions. EA cannot process refunds for purchases made in external stores.
EA Play Pro
Managing EA Play Pro versus standard EA Play
EA Play Pro is a PC‑only upgrade tier with specific rules for where it’s sold, how to upgrade, and how to downgrade or cancel.
EA Play Pro is only on PC via the EA app
EA’s Pro documentation states that EA Play Pro is available only on PC through the EA app and is not offered on Steam, Epic, PlayStation, or Xbox. If you joined EA Play on any platform other than the EA app, you cannot upgrade that membership to EA Play Pro.
Upgrade from EA Play to Pro in EA Account settings
To upgrade, EA directs you to your EA Account, where you open the Subscriptions and Memberships tab, choose EA Play, and then use Manage membership. From the EA Play website that opens, you select an EA Play Pro option to start your Pro membership.
Downgrade back to EA Play at any time
The Pro upgrade article explains that if you upgraded to EA Play Pro, you can switch back to standard EA Play whenever you like. From Subscriptions and Memberships, choose EA Play, select Manage membership, choose Change Membership, and then Switch to EA Play with your preferred billing plan.
Canceling Pro uses the standard EA Play flow
EA notes that in addition to downgrading, you can cancel EA Play or EA Play Pro outright at any time by following the main EA Play cancellation article from your EA Account. Canceling stops future renewals but leaves your EA Account itself active.
Check Play List availability before upgrading
EA advises Pro members to confirm that the games they want are actually available in The Play List for their region and platform, since not all EA titles are included and catalog contents change over time. This helps avoid upgrading solely for a game that isn’t part of EA Play Pro.
Xbox Game Pass
EA Play when it’s included with Game Pass
EA’s Game Pass explainer clarifies how bundled EA Play access works and how it interacts with standalone EA Play memberships.
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include EA Play
EA explains that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members receive EA Play on Xbox consoles and Windows through the EA app, while PC Game Pass members receive EA Play for PC. Other Game Pass tiers, such as Game Pass Core and Standard, do not include EA Play.
Bundled EA Play is controlled by your Game Pass plan
When EA Play access comes as a benefit of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, there is no separate EA Play subscription to cancel with EA. To stop being charged, you must change or cancel your Game Pass membership through your Microsoft account.
Joining Game Pass can replace a paid EA Play for Xbox
EA’s FAQ notes that if you already have an EA Play membership on Xbox and then join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the standalone EA Play for Xbox is automatically canceled and your remaining time is converted into extra Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time, using a conversion ratio described in EA’s Xbox FAQ.
EA Play Pro is never included with Game Pass
EA clarifies that EA Play Pro is only available through the EA app and is not bundled with any Xbox Game Pass tier. Even if you have Game Pass Ultimate, you must purchase EA Play Pro separately if you want its upgraded benefits.
Account linking is needed for PC access
To use EA Play on PC through Game Pass, EA’s Game Pass article explains that you must download the Xbox app, sign in, link it to your EA Account and EA app, and then launch Play List games from the Xbox app so that EA Play recognizes your entitlement.
Troubleshooting
If EA Play or the cancel option is missing
EA’s troubleshooting and cancellation articles focus on account linkage and which platform controls the subscription when cancellation seems difficult.
Membership not visible in EA Account
If EA Play doesn’t appear under Subscriptions and Memberships in your EA Account, EA notes that you likely joined via Steam, Epic, PlayStation, or Xbox. In these cases, EA says you must handle account management, billing, and cancellation with that platform’s tools and support instead of through EA Account settings.
Games missing despite an active membership
When EA Play games or perks seem to be missing, EA’s troubleshooting guide recommends confirming you’re signed into the same EA Account you used to join and that your Steam, Epic, PlayStation, or Xbox account is correctly linked. An incorrect or unlinked account can hide entitled EA Play content.
Cancel page loops or won’t complete
If you reach the EA Play Cancel membership landing page but can’t finish, EA suggests starting from your EA Account’s Subscriptions and Memberships tab, selecting EA Play, and using the Cancel membership option from Your membership. Persistent technical issues should then be escalated through the Contact us link on EA Help.
Console billing issues go to Sony or Microsoft
EA’s PlayStation and Xbox help articles specify that price information, billing disputes, some immediate-cancel requests, and game or error code issues for EA Play on console must be handled by PlayStation or Xbox Support. EA Advisors can answer general EA Play questions but can’t adjust your console billing.
Removing leftover EA Play games on PC
If EA Play games remain in your EA app Library after canceling, EA’s cancellation article explains how to launch the EA app, open the Library, select the game, choose Manage, and then Uninstall so the title no longer appears.
Orders & content
Pre-orders, EA Play, and owned content
EA distinguishes between your EA Play membership, your pre-orders, and permanently owned games and add-ons.
Canceling EA Play does not cancel pre-orders
Ending your EA Play membership does not automatically cancel any game pre-orders or purchases. EA’s pre-order article shows that you must cancel eligible pre-orders separately in your EA Account Order History or by contacting the retailer or platform where you placed the order.
Pre-orders for Pro-included games are refundable pre-launch
If you pre-ordered a game that’s included with EA Play Pro, EA explains you can cancel that pre-order and receive a refund for the game any time before launch. If you rely only on EA Play Pro access and later cancel Pro without buying the title, you’ll lose access when your membership expires.
Owned games and DLC remain available
EA states that purchases you made with your EA Play member discount, such as full games or add-ons, remain yours to keep after your membership ends. Losing EA Play only removes access to games and trials that were available solely as part of the EA Play catalog.
Play List availability can change
EA describes The Play List as an evolving collection whose contents vary by region and platform and may change over time. If a game leaves The Play List—or if you cancel EA Play—you will need to purchase that game separately to continue playing it.
Account & data
EA Account, linked profiles, and data after canceling
Canceling EA Play changes your membership status but not your underlying EA Account or linked console profiles.
Your EA Account stays open
EA’s EA Account pages treat canceling EA Play and managing the EA Account itself as separate actions. The EA Play cancellation and membership management articles describe changing membership status but do not indicate that your EA Account is closed as part of that process.
Linked console and PC profiles remain connected
Guides for EA Play on PlayStation, Xbox, and Game Pass emphasize linking your platform account to an EA Account to use EA Play benefits. Canceling EA Play does not automatically unlink those accounts; they remain associated for other EA games and services unless you change linking settings separately.
Payment methods for EA app memberships stay until expiry
For PC memberships managed via EA Account, EA notes that when you cancel, your payment method for EA Play remains listed until your Next billing date. During that time, you have the option to reverse the cancellation before the membership actually expires.
Rejoining restores access to eligible content
EA explains that you can rejoin EA Play at any time from the EA Play website. When you do, you regain access to the current Play List, and because save files are retained unless you delete them, you can continue your progress in those games.
