Cancellation and Refund Rules
Fubo says paid subscriptions automatically renew until canceled. If you cancel a paid subscription, service continues through the end of the current billing cycle. Fubo's cancellation policy says it does not provide refunds for prepaid or partial months of service.
Important cancellation details:
| Situation |
Current Fubo guidance |
| Paid subscription canceled on Fubo website |
Access continues through the end of the current billing period |
| Free trial canceled after signing up on Fubo's website |
Trial ends immediately, and another free trial is not provided |
| Free trial canceled through Roku |
Trial ends at the end of the free-trial period |
| Promotional offer with commitment period |
An early cancellation fee may apply if the offer included a commitment |
| Already canceled account |
Fubo says the Subscription page can confirm whether it is set to cancel or fully canceled |
| Pause request |
Fubo says it does not offer pausing or suspending subscriptions |
For a refund complaint, do not only say the charge was unwanted. Tie the request to a specific event:
- account was canceled but Fubo charged again
- trial was canceled before the paid conversion date
- Roku cancellation was confirmed but billing continued
- add-on was removed but appeared on a later bill
- a billing date or plan change was processed incorrectly
- a service issue made the paid event or channel unusable
- a promotional commitment or early-cancellation fee was not disclosed clearly
Fubo's policy is not a guarantee of refund approval, so the complaint should ask for a written review and the exact policy reason if Fubo denies the request.
Billing, Plan Changes, and Add-On Complaints
Fubo says paid subscribers are billed in advance at the beginning of each billing cycle. Monthly billing is the default unless the user subscribes to a quarterly or annual plan. The billing date is based on the date the account became a paying subscriber.
Use these billing rules when writing the complaint:
| Billing topic |
What Fubo says |
| Billing history |
Available in My Account under Billing and Payment History |
| Next payment date |
Listed under Billing Summary in the Billing page |
| Payment method |
Can be updated in the Billing page |
| Base plan upgrade |
Takes effect immediately and is billed at a prorated amount for the rest of the current cycle |
| Base plan downgrade |
Takes effect immediately, with a prorated credit applied to the next bill |
| Add-on added |
Charged immediately on a prorated basis and included in future bills |
| Add-on removed |
Access continues until the start of the next billing cycle, then future billing stops |
| Billing frequency change |
Moving to or from quarterly/annual billing can make the change date the new renewal date |
| Billing date change |
Fubo says this can be requested through support if the account has at least one successful payment and no outstanding balance, and can be done once per account lifetime |
For a plan or add-on complaint, attach before-and-after screenshots from My Account, the payment history row, and the confirmation page for the change.
Regional Sports Fee Complaints
Fubo says customers in certain areas who subscribe to a plan with regional sports coverage are subject to a monthly Regional Sports Fee. Fubo's support article says the amount is based on area and can be up to $16.99/month. For Roku signups, the article says the Regional Sports Fee is $16.00/month regardless of area.
Where to check the fee:
| Account type |
Where to look |
| New Fubo signup |
During the signup process |
| Current Fubo subscriber |
Plan Management under Taxes, Fees, and Surcharges |
| Unsure if the fee applies |
Fubo Virtual Assistant can check regional sports coverage for the area |
Fubo says the Regional Sports Fee cannot be removed if the plan includes regional sports programming. If you do not want regional sports programming or the fee, Fubo points users to changing the base plan to one that does not include regional sports programming.
For a fee complaint, ask Fubo to confirm the regional sports networks tied to the account, the fee amount shown during signup or plan management, whether a different base plan removes the fee, and whether the current bill matches the plan disclosed.
Streaming and Channel Complaints
For streaming failures, start with a clean technical record before asking for a billing remedy. Fubo's troubleshooting page recommends checking the Fubo Status page, restarting the stream, signing out and back in, closing and relaunching the app, reinstalling the app, testing another compatible device, checking internet speed, and restarting network equipment. It also says Fubo cannot be accessed using a VPN or proxy device that changes or hides location.
For a streaming complaint, include:
- event, channel, or program name
- date and time with time zone
- device and operating system
- Fubo app version if available
- internet connection type
- error message
- whether the Fubo Status page showed an incident
- troubleshooting steps already tried
- screenshots or screen recordings
- requested result
If the problem involved a live event, include the exact event window. "The stream failed during the fourth quarter of [game] from [time] to [time]" is more useful than "Fubo did not work."
Roku-Billed Fubo Complaints
Fubo's cancellation article says Roku-billed subscriptions renew each month and are managed through Roku. If the subscription page says the subscription was created through Roku, use Roku's subscription management page or the Roku device menu to cancel.
For a Roku-billed complaint, collect:
| Evidence |
Why it matters |
| Roku account email |
Confirms the billing route |
| Fubo account email |
Connects the streaming account |
| Roku subscription confirmation |
Shows cancellation or renewal status |
| Fubo subscription page |
Shows whether Fubo sees the Roku billing route |
| Payment statement |
Shows seller descriptor and date |
| Roku and Fubo support cases |
Shows both sides of the issue |
Ask Fubo to confirm whether it can act on the issue directly or whether Roku must process the billing correction.
Privacy and Account Data Complaints
Fubo's privacy policy is linked from the Help Center and Fubo website. For privacy complaints, use the privacy or data-rights route listed in the policy for your jurisdiction.
Include:
- Fubo account email
- request type, such as access, deletion, correction, opt-out, or appeal
- state or country of residence
- date submitted
- verification status
- Fubo response or case number
- specific data, account, or communication at issue
Keep privacy complaints separate from ordinary billing complaints. A refund request should go through support; a data access or deletion request should use the privacy route.
When to Escalate Beyond Fubo
| Situation |
Escalation path |
Notes |
| Card billing error after Fubo support review |
Payment issuer billing-error notice |
Include Fubo case history, billing statement, cancellation proof, and payment history |
| Roku-billed subscription issue |
Roku support and payment issuer route if needed |
Seller of record may control refund or cancellation handling |
| Misleading subscription disclosure concern |
State consumer protection office or FTC report |
Include signup page, plan, fee disclosure, and timeline |
| Privacy request unresolved |
State privacy regulator or attorney general path where applicable |
Include request date, verification status, and Fubo response |
| Technical outage during paid live event |
Fubo support first, then payment issuer or consumer office if a billing remedy is denied |
Include Fubo Status record, event time, device, and screenshots |
For credit card billing errors, the FTC says a written notice should go to the issuer's billing inquiry address and reach the issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Include copies of records rather than originals.
