Steam complaints usually involve refunds, subscriptions, video content, DLC, in-game purchases, gifts, Steam Wallet, hardware, account access, unauthorized transactions, VAC ban limits, privacy requests, or Steam Support delays. The strongest complaint starts with the Steam account, purchase receipt, transaction ID, product name, purchase date, playtime or usage, subscription status, support request, and the exact outcome you want Steam Support to review.
Steam's refund page says refund and purchase help starts at help.steampowered.com. For recurring Steam content and services, Steam says a renewable subscription can be canceled from account details, access remains through the current billing cycle, and a refund request may be available within 48 hours of the initial purchase or automatic renewal if the subscription has not been used during the current billing cycle.
Steam's refund rules also separate videos, gifts, bundles, hardware, outside purchases, and VAC bans. Steam says it cannot provide refunds for purchases made outside Steam, such as third-party CD keys or Steam wallet cards. Steam also says it is unable to offer refunds for video content such as movies, shorts, series, episodes, and tutorials unless the video is in a bundle with other refundable non-video content.
This guide is for organizing a customer complaint. It is not legal advice, payment advice, tax advice, privacy advice, game-publisher advice, hardware-return advice, anti-cheat advice, consumer-law advice, or a decision about whether Valve, Steam, a game publisher, a hardware carrier, a payment issuer, a privacy authority, or another party must issue a refund, credit, subscription cancellation, account restoration, hardware return, privacy response, or policy exception.
