Cancellation, Refunds, and Continuous Service
Country Living has several cancellation paths, depending on whether the subscription is unpaid, paid, purchased through an agency, or part of a Continuous Service renewal.
| Topic |
Country Living guidance |
| Unpaid subscription |
Log in at the customer care site and use the Cancel action from My Orders |
| Paid subscription |
Email CLGcustserv@cdsfulfillment.com or call the customer service number listed in the current FAQ |
| Invoice cancellation |
The detailed FAQ says customers may write "cancel" on an invoice and return it |
| Refund after cancellation |
The FAQ says Country Living issues a refund for remaining copies that have not yet been mailed at cancellation time |
| Agency purchase |
If the subscription was purchased through an agency, the refund request must go to that agent |
| Continuous Service reminder |
The FAQ says an annual reminder is sent about 60 days before the card is charged or a bill is sent |
| Leaving Continuous Service |
Log in to the customer care site, change the option, email customer service, or return the reminder marked "cancel" |
For a cancellation complaint, include the subscription source, account number, invoice date, renewal reminder date, billing date, last issue received, cancellation attempt date, and the exact refund or confirmation requested.
Billing, Payment, and Account Status Complaints
The Country Living customer service FAQ says the online account page can show account status, subscription start and expiration issues, last issue mailed, balances, payment and renewal reminders, and notices. It also says online payments can be made by credit card.
For a payment complaint, include:
- account number and mailing ZIP code
- email used for the account
- invoice, payment confirmation, or card statement date
- amount charged or billed
- renewal reminder if available
- whether the issue is a new order, renewal, Continuous Service renewal, or duplicate account
- screenshot from the customer care portal
- requested correction
Current FAQ pages list mail-payment addresses differently across older and newer customer service pages, including Harlan, Iowa and Boone, Iowa addresses. For mailed payments, follow the address on the current invoice or the live account page, and keep a copy of the payment record.
If a credit card billing error remains unresolved after Country Living support responds, the FTC says a written billing-error notice generally must reach the card issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Use the issuer's billing inquiry address and include copies, not originals, of supporting records.
Missed, Damaged, Duplicate, and Delayed Issues
Country Living's current global FAQ says the first print issue usually arrives in 4 to 8 weeks. It also says Country Living publishes 6 times per year, and that future combined issues count as two issues when indicated on the cover.
| Issue |
What to document |
What to request |
| First issue delay |
Order date, account creation date, mailing address, first issue estimate |
Account status review and expected first issue |
| Missed issue |
Issue cover date, last issue received, mailing address, account status |
Issue extension or other account correction |
| Damaged issue |
Issue cover date, photos, mailing label, delivery condition |
Extension, replacement review, or written decision |
| Duplicate issues |
Both account numbers, both labels, same or different address |
Merge, cancellation of duplicate, or account correction |
| Address change delay |
Old address, new address, date change was submitted |
Confirmation that future issues use the new address |
The detailed FAQ says address changes should be submitted at least 8 weeks before the issue cover date when possible. It also says missed or damaged issue reports may result in an extension to compensate for the issue.
Print, Digital, and All Access Membership
Country Living separates standard print subscription service, digital editions purchased through app stores or digital newsstands, and Country Living All Access membership.
| Product |
Current support context |
| Print subscription |
Managed through print.countryliving.com and Country Living customer service |
| Digital edition |
FAQ lists App Store, Google Play, Barnes & Noble NOOK, Amazon Kindle, and Zinio as digital edition purchase routes |
| Digital access timing |
The global FAQ says the digital version is available immediately in the app |
| Print-to-digital transfer |
FAQ says remaining paid print issues may be transferred to digital when eligible and when a valid email is provided |
| Standard print subscription and digital access |
The detailed FAQ says a print subscription does not ordinarily include free digital access unless a promotion says otherwise |
| All Access membership |
FAQ says All Access includes unlimited site content, a members-only newsletter, access to editors and experts, special discounts, and the print magazine |
| All Access first issue |
FAQ says the first print issue for members usually arrives about 8 weeks after the order |
For an All Access complaint, use membersupport@countryliving.com or 888-797-9927. Include the member email, order date, billing date, access problem, print issue concern, and any confirmation page or receipt.
Sweepstakes, Gifts, and Accidental Subscriptions
The Country Living FAQ says no purchase is required to enter sweepstakes. If a subscription was started by mistake, the FAQ says to allow time for the order to apply to the system, then log in and cancel or email customer service.
For a sweepstakes or gift subscription complaint, document:
- name and mailing address on the account
- account number if available
- sweepstakes or gift offer name
- invoice or bill date
- whether payment was made
- cancellation attempt date
- requested result
If the subscription was a gift, include both the recipient address and the purchaser email if you have them. If the issue involves an agency purchase, Country Living's FAQ points refund handling back to the agency.
Marketing, Mail, and Email Preferences
Country Living and Hearst provide separate paths for subscription service emails, promotional emails, and direct mail.
| Preference |
Route |
| Subscription service emails |
Manage through the customer care account page when available |
| Promotional emails |
Use the unsubscribe link or Hearst email preference tools |
| Country Living promotional mail |
Use the customer care preference route or mail preference instructions listed in the FAQ |
| Hearst Magazines direct mail opt-out |
Hearst Magazines, PO Box 37870, Boone, IA, 50037, with the publication name included |
For a preference complaint, include the email address or mailing address, a copy of the message or mailer, the opt-out date, and the confirmation you received.
Privacy Requests
Hearst's U.S. Magazines Privacy Notice applies to U.S. websites, apps, print subscriptions, digital subscription products, and other digital services operated by Hearst Magazines. The notice says Hearst may use information for subscription processing, recurring payments when applicable, service operation, personalization, advertising, and legal compliance.
Depending on location and applicable law, Hearst says consumers may have rights to access, delete, correct, port, or opt out of certain processing. The notice lists magsdatarequests@hearst.com for privacy questions, but says privacy rights requests are not accepted through that mailbox. Use the privacy request links and privacy choices tools linked from Hearst magazine sites, including the request portal referenced by Hearst.
For a privacy complaint, include:
- account email and mailing address
- request type, such as access, deletion, correction, opt-out, or appeal
- state or jurisdiction
- date submitted
- verification request and response
- confirmation number if available
- response received and remaining issue
When to Escalate Beyond Country Living
| Situation |
Escalation path |
Notes |
| Billing error remains unresolved |
Card issuer billing-error notice |
Use the issuer's billing inquiry address and submit within the FTC timing rules where applicable |
| Paid cancellation not reflected |
Country Living customer service, then payment issuer route if a card billing error remains |
Include account number, cancellation request, renewal notice, and card statement |
| Privacy request unresolved |
Hearst privacy appeal or state privacy regulator route where available |
Include request date, verification status, response, and appeal record |
| Digital edition purchase through a third-party store |
Store or platform subscription support |
Include platform receipt and Country Living account evidence if both are involved |
| Agency subscription refund |
Subscription agency |
Country Living FAQ says agency-purchased subscription refunds must be requested from the agent |
Keep escalation factual. The strongest record is a clean timeline showing the account, what Country Living or Hearst said, what policy applies, and what correction is still needed.
