Subscription Billing and Refund Complaints
Aaptiv's Terms say subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled. They also say a free trial bills the designated payment method at the end of the free trial period unless the subscription is canceled before the trial ends.
Refund routing depends on the payment source:
| Payment source |
Refund route |
Policy point |
| Aaptiv website |
Aaptiv Support |
Website payments are refundable on a case-by-case basis |
| Google Play |
Aaptiv Support with Google receipt |
Google Play payments are refundable on a case-by-case basis under Aaptiv's Terms |
| Apple App Store |
Apple Support |
Aaptiv says Apple handles payment directly and Aaptiv cannot assist with App Store refunds |
| Employer or health-plan benefit |
Benefit sponsor and Aaptiv Support |
Eligibility and access may be controlled by the sponsor agreement |
| Gym network access |
Aaptiv Support and the gym when facility-specific |
Gym terms and access rules may be separate from Aaptiv's service |
For a billing complaint, say exactly what was wrong: renewed after cancellation, trial converted earlier than expected, duplicate payment, wrong platform, inability to access the paid service, missing cancellation confirmation, or refund request tied to a technical issue.
Cancellation Failure Complaints
Aaptiv's cancellation help page says direct members can cancel at https://my.aaptiv.com/member/settings by selecting Payment method, tapping Manage Subscription, and then tapping Cancel Plan. If a subscription was purchased through Apple or Google, the cancellation route is usually in that platform account.
Use this checklist:
- Confirm whether Aaptiv, Apple, Google, or a benefit sponsor bills the account.
- Check the next renewal date.
- Save screenshots of account settings and subscriptions.
- Try the direct route only if Aaptiv bills the subscription.
- Use Apple or Google subscriptions if an app-store receipt exists.
- Ask Aaptiv Support to confirm whether any active subscription remains under the account email.
Aaptiv's support article also says deleting the app from the phone does not cancel billing. If the complaint is "I deleted the app and was still charged," include the receipt and ask which platform owns cancellation.
App Access, Login, and Technical Complaints
For app-access complaints, the important question is whether the account is paid, sponsored, or inactive. A user may have a valid payment but still see login, entitlement, or device issues.
Include:
- account email
- device model and operating system
- app version
- login method
- screenshot of the error
- receipt or benefit eligibility proof
- date the problem started
- whether classes, Gym Network, Aaptiv MSK, or account settings are affected
Ask Aaptiv Support to confirm both the billing status and the entitlement status. If the payment is visible but access is missing, ask support to reconnect the purchase or explain which account owns the subscription.
Aaptiv Access and Gym Network Complaints
Aaptiv's Terms say the Aaptiv Access fitness network can provide access to third-party gyms, fitness studios, or health clubs for certain users. The same Terms say eligibility, availability, level, and tier can vary and may be determined by the employer through which the service is offered. Aaptiv also says it does not own, operate, or control the third-party gyms in the network.
For a gym network complaint, split the issue:
| Issue |
First route |
| Cannot register at a gym |
Aaptiv Support by phone, chat, ticket, or email |
| Gym says membership is inactive |
Aaptiv Support and the benefit sponsor |
| Employer eligibility missing |
Employer, health plan, or benefits portal |
| Gym facility rule or waiver |
The gym or studio |
| Gym removed from network |
Aaptiv Support and benefit sponsor |
| Membership badge problem |
Aaptiv Support |
Aaptiv's June 2026 gym support article says users having trouble getting registered at a gym can contact support by phone or chat 6am-4pm PST, Monday through Friday, by chat in the mobile app or at aaptiv.com, by phone at (877) 326-4715, or by email at support@aaptiv.com.
Some Aaptiv users receive access through an employer, health plan, broker, or benefits platform. Aaptiv's Terms say third-party subscriber access may be subject to the sponsor's agreements as well as Aaptiv's own Terms.
For sponsored access complaints, include:
- employer or health plan name
- benefits platform
- eligibility start and end date
- Aaptiv account email
- membership tier shown in the portal
- screenshot of the portal or invitation
- HR, health-plan, or benefits administrator response
- Aaptiv Support ticket
Ask a direct question: "Is my Aaptiv account inactive because of payment, sponsor eligibility, gym network registration, or account mismatch?"
Privacy, Health, and Safety Complaints
Aaptiv's Privacy Policy says users may submit privacy rights requests by emailing support@aaptiv.com and including full name, state of residence, request type, and enough detail to locate the relevant information, such as the email address used with Aaptiv.
For privacy requests, separate:
| Request |
What to include |
| Access request |
Account email, full name, state, request date |
| Deletion request |
Account email, active subscription status, data affected |
| Correction request |
Field to correct and correct value |
| Marketing opt-out |
Email address and message example |
| App health-data question |
Device, connected app, data type, request |
| AI or recommendation concern |
Feature used, output date, screenshot, requested explanation |
If the issue involves an injury, emergency, or medical condition, contact medical professionals or emergency services first. Aaptiv's Terms say the service provides fitness and health-oriented information and that users should consult a physician or other qualified healthcare professional before starting or modifying an exercise program.
When to Escalate Beyond Aaptiv
| Situation |
Escalation path |
Notes |
| Apple payment refund denied by Aaptiv |
Apple Support |
Aaptiv says Apple handles App Store payment information and refunds |
| Google Play or website refund not answered |
Aaptiv Support follow-up, then card issuer if there is a documented billing error |
Include receipt and support case |
| Billing continues after confirmed cancellation |
Aaptiv Support, Apple, Google, or card issuer based on payment source |
Include cancellation confirmation and later charge |
| Employer benefit eligibility incorrect |
Employer, health plan, benefits platform, then Aaptiv Support |
Ask who controls eligibility |
| Gym refuses access despite active Aaptiv Access |
Aaptiv Support and gym manager |
Include badge ID, gym name, visit date |
| Privacy request unresolved |
Aaptiv Support, then applicable privacy regulator if required |
Include request date and response |
| Formal contract dispute |
Notice route in Aaptiv Terms |
Aaptiv Terms require written notice before arbitration |
Do not escalate until you know who billed the subscription. Aaptiv cannot refund Apple App Store payments it does not process, and a gym cannot fix an employer-benefit eligibility record it does not control.
What to Say in an Aaptiv Complaint
Use this script:
"I need Aaptiv to review a complaint for account [email]. The issue is [subscription billing, trial renewal, cancellation failure, refund request, app access, Google Play payment, Apple account access, gym network registration, employer benefit, privacy request, or support delay]. The relevant details are [charge date, amount, renewal date, receipt/order ID, platform, benefit sponsor, membership badge ID, gym name, or support ticket]. I have attached [receipt, screenshot, cancellation proof, Apple or Google record, benefits portal screenshot, gym visit details, or prior support message]. I am requesting [cancellation confirmation, refund review, entitlement fix, gym network registration help, eligibility explanation, privacy response, or written decision]. Please confirm the next step and decision in writing."
Useful follow-up questions:
- "Does Aaptiv, Apple, Google, or a benefit sponsor bill this account?"
- "Is there any active subscription under this account email?"
- "Was the cancellation completed before the renewal was processed?"
- "Can you confirm the final access date?"
- "Can you reconnect my receipt to the correct Aaptiv account?"
- "Is my gym network issue caused by sponsor eligibility, badge status, or the gym's own rule?"
- "Can you confirm the decision in writing?"
