Cancel a Self-Serve Asana Plan
For most online Starter or Advanced plans:
- Sign in to Asana.
- Open the Admin Console.
- Select Billing.
- Review the current plan, renewal date, seat count, and payment method.
- Choose Cancel Plan or downgrade if that option is available.
- Follow the confirmation steps.
- Save the confirmation and the date the change takes effect.
If the plan is attached to a team inside a larger organization, make sure you are canceling the correct team or workspace. A person can belong to multiple Asana workspaces, and the billing owner may be different for each one.
Cancel an Asana Trial
If the workspace is still in a trial, cancel before it converts to a paid plan. Use the Admin Console and Billing area to cancel the trial or stop the paid conversion.
Save these details:
| Detail |
Why it matters |
| Trial end date |
Shows when paid billing would begin |
| Plan selected for conversion |
Shows Starter, Advanced, Enterprise, or add-on exposure |
| Billing owner |
Shows who can change the trial |
| Confirmation screen |
Shows trial cancellation was submitted |
| Support case |
Useful if billing still occurs |
If a sales representative or implementation partner created the trial, contact that person as well as using the in-product billing controls.
Downgrade or Reduce Seats Instead
If the team still needs Asana but has too many paid users or an overpowered plan, downgrading may be better than canceling.
Asana's Subscriber Terms say that if a customer wants to reduce paid End Users or downgrade to a lower subscription plan, the customer must provide written notice at least 30 days before the end of the then-current term. Asana will reflect the reduction or downgrade on the Renewal Date if applicable.
Before changing seats:
| Item |
What to check |
| Paid member list |
Remove inactive members before renewal |
| Guests |
External guests may not count the same as paid members |
| Add-ons |
Timesheets and Budgets add-on is priced separately |
| Renewal date |
Seat reductions may not apply until renewal |
| Team versus organization plan |
Make sure the correct billing scope is changing |
| Enterprise features |
Downgrading can remove security, admin, reporting, or workflow controls |
Do not delete users before exporting or transferring project ownership that your team still needs.
Enterprise and Enterprise+ customers may be governed by a sales Order Form rather than only the self-serve billing page. Asana's Subscriber Terms say subscriptions auto-renew at the end of the current Subscription Term unless a party gives notice of non-renewal at least 30 days before the Renewal Date, unless the Order Form says otherwise.
Channel partner purchases can be different. Asana's terms say that if a subscription was acquired through an authorized distributor, reseller, or digital marketplace, warranty, refund, or service-credit claims must be submitted to the channel partner, and the partner is responsible for issuing refunds or service credits.
For contract or partner accounts, gather:
- Order Form
- renewal date
- billing contact
- admin owner
- seat count
- partner invoice if applicable
- notice email or support case
- written confirmation that non-renewal was accepted
Apple, Google Play, and Mobile Billing
Most Asana team billing is managed on the web, but if Apple or Google Play appears on the receipt, cancel through that app store.
| Billing source |
Cancellation path |
| Apple App Store |
Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Asana if listed, Cancel Subscription |
| Google Play |
Play Store profile, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, Asana if listed, Cancel |
| Direct Asana |
Admin Console, Billing |
| Channel partner |
Partner account or support |
If Asana does not appear in Apple or Google subscriptions, use the Admin Console, the Order Form, or the provider shown on the receipt.
Refunds and Renewal Timing
Asana's Subscriber Terms say amounts due are non-cancelable and non-refundable unless otherwise provided in the agreement. They also say subscriptions auto-renew at then-current rates unless a party gives notice at least 30 days before the Renewal Date, unless the Order Form says otherwise.
Important timing:
| Topic |
What to expect |
| Self-serve monthly plan |
Change may take effect at the next billing date |
| Annual plan |
Access can continue through the paid term; refund is not automatic |
| Seat reduction |
May apply on the Renewal Date under the 30-day notice rule |
| Downgrade |
May apply on the Renewal Date under the 30-day notice rule |
| Channel partner |
Partner terms control billing and refund handling |
| Valid Asana warranty termination |
Subscriber Terms include limited situations where prepaid unused fees can be refunded |
If you believe Asana failed to cancel after confirmation, contact support with the confirmation, invoice, renewal date, billing owner, and amount.
Export and Data Cleanup Before Cancellation
Canceling or letting a subscription expire can affect access to paid features, admin controls, and data availability. Asana's Subscriber Terms say after expiration or termination, Asana may deactivate account access and will make Customer Data available for export if Asana receives written notice within 30 days after expiration or termination.
Before canceling:
| Data task |
Why it matters |
| Export organization or project data |
Preserves records before deactivation |
| Transfer project ownership |
Keeps work accessible to remaining owners |
| Remove or pause inactive users |
Reduces future paid seats |
| Download invoices |
Needed for accounting and support |
| Review integrations |
Connected apps may stop syncing |
| Document admin owner |
Needed for any support follow-up |
