Use this route when the subscription was purchased directly from AL.com or The Birmingham News.
- Go to
https://myaccount.al.com/al/home.
- Sign in with the subscriber email.
- Open the subscription, account, or billing section.
- Select the active AL.com or The Birmingham News subscription.
- Turn off renewal or submit the cancellation request.
- Save the final confirmation screen.
If the account portal asks you to sign in again, use the same email that receives subscriber receipts. If you cannot reset the password or the subscription is missing, move to Subscriber Services instead of starting a second account.

Use a short, specific message:
Please cancel renewal for my AL.com / The Birmingham News subscription. My account email is [email]. The subscriber name is [name]. The billing or service address is [address, if relevant]. My latest receipt is dated [date] for [amount]. Please confirm the cancellation date and that no further renewal is scheduled.
If you call, ask the representative to send written confirmation to your account email. If support says the subscription is billed through Apple or Google, ask them to identify the billing source and then use that app-store route.
Cancel Through Apple if Apple Bills You
Use this route only when the receipt is from Apple.
- Open Settings on the iPhone or iPad tied to the Apple ID.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the AL.com subscription if it appears there.
- Tap Cancel Subscription or Cancel Free Trial.
- Save the Apple confirmation.
Apple support says subscriptions can also be managed from the App Store account menu or from Apple account settings on another device. If AL.com is not listed under Apple subscriptions, Apple is probably not the billing source.
Cancel Through Google Play if Google Bills You
Use this route only when the receipt is from Google Play.
- Open Google Play with the Google account that was charged.
- Open Payments & subscriptions.
- Select Subscriptions.
- Choose the AL.com subscription if it appears there.
- Cancel renewal and save the confirmation.
If AL.com is not listed in Google Play subscriptions, return to the AL.com account route or contact Subscriber Services with the receipt.
If You Are Canceling Print or Local Subscriber Access
