Cancellation, Trial Billing, and Final Service Fees
Stamps.com lists both online and phone cancellation paths. The public cancellation page says you can cancel by calling its Customer Care Center at 1-855-889-7867, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Time, and says a representative should send a cancellation confirmation email. Stamps.com's FAQ also says users can log in and navigate to the subscription page to cancel from within the app, and it lists a cancellation support number of 855-608-2677. Its terms list online cancellation through account settings and also list 1-888-434-0055 for phone cancellation.
Because Stamps.com publishes more than one support number across its current pages, the cleanest complaint record is:
- attempt online cancellation in the logged-in account
- save the account page or confirmation screen
- use the cancellation page or in-app support if online cancellation is not available
- request a cancellation confirmation email
- request a phone confirmation number if cancellation is handled by phone
- record the date, time, number used, and agent or case identifier
Stamps.com terms say auto-renewing service plans must be canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period to avoid charges for future billing periods. They also say Stamps.com bills in arrears, so users may still be billed for the month in which they cancel. The public cancellation page similarly warns that closing an account after a trial can result in up to one additional service fee plus applicable taxes.
For a trial billing complaint, be precise about dates. Stamps.com's terms say a user who cancels before the trial ends should be charged only for actual shipping, mailing, or other specific transactions, not the service fee. If the user does not cancel before the trial ends, the terms say the service fee can apply from the beginning of service, including the trial period.
Postage Balance, Label Refunds, and Refund Assist
Account closure and label refunds are separate issues. Closing the account does not mean every postage or label amount is immediately returned.
Stamps.com's Help Center says that after an account is canceled, any remaining postage balance is refunded within 4-8 weeks, and promotional postage is not refundable. Its terms also say non-offer related, non-pre-paid plan account postage balances are refunded pursuant to USPS regulations, but outstanding service fees or pending refund requests can delay or reduce the refund.
For unused or misprinted labels, Stamps.com's terms say the refund request must be completed within 30 days of generating the mailing or shipping label. Its Help Center says USPS e-refunds for USPS shipping labels must be submitted within 28 days of the print date, and that once an electronic refund is approved, the system refunds postage to the account within 21 days. Treat the shorter USPS timing as the practical deadline when a USPS label is involved.
Stamps.com also offers Refund Assist. Its Help Center says Refund Assist reviews unused USPS labels and submits eligible refund requests when labels were printed but not received or scanned by USPS within 21 days of the print date. After labels are scheduled for a refund, customers have five days to exclude labels they do not want refunded. Once Stamps.com initiates the refund with USPS, processing can take 1-4 weeks, and customers receive 70% of the USPS-approved refund amount as a credit to their Stamps.com account balance.
For refund complaints, separate the request type:
| Refund type |
What to ask Stamps.com |
| Remaining postage balance |
Ask for account-closure date, remaining balance, refund destination, and expected 4-8 week timing |
| Manual unused label refund |
Ask whether the request was submitted within the 28/30-day window and whether the carrier approved it |
| Refund Assist |
Ask which labels were scheduled, whether the five-day exclusion period passed, and when USPS approval is expected |
| Subscription-free plan label refund |
Ask whether refund should return to the original payment method after carrier approval |
| Promotional postage |
Ask for written confirmation if the balance is considered promotional and non-refundable |
Carrier Adjustments, Negative Balances, and Add-Ons
Some charges are not ordinary subscription fees. Stamps.com's terms say mailing and shipping transactions can generate adjustments if a carrier or partner determines that the original label did not contain enough funds, such as underreported weight or a mail-class eligibility change. For paid plans, Stamps.com may deduct those adjustments from the account balance. If funds are not available, Stamps.com says it may charge the account billing method, with a minimum charge of $10 until the balance is covered.
If you are disputing a carrier adjustment:
- download the label and receipt
- record the label date, carrier, service, tracking number, weight, dimensions, and destination
- compare the package details you entered with the carrier adjustment
- ask whether the adjustment came from USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, GlobalPost, or another partner
- ask whether Stamps.com can submit a review or correction request
- keep the written adjustment explanation before filing a payment dispute
For add-ons, Stamps.com's terms say charged add-on services continue to bill as long as the add-on is active, and the add-on billing cycle may differ from other services. If you cancel the main plan, confirm whether each add-on, user seat, or multi-location feature has also stopped.

Avoid mixing multiple issues into one vague complaint. A subscription cancellation dispute, a postage balance refund, and a carrier label adjustment may involve different records and different remedies.
