Confirm the billing owner before canceling
- You cancel a Mailchimp subscription from the web app by going to Account & billing, opening the Settings ▾ menu, and using Manage my plan. From there you can either pause your Marketing plan (stopping monthly Marketing billing but keeping your data) or permanently delete your account, which closes the account and removes audiences, campaigns, and reports once any outstanding balance is paid. Websites plans, Text Messaging, and other add‑ons may need separate changes, because downgrades and Websites cancellations follow different end‑of‑term rules than full account deletion.
- Mailchimp only lets account Owners and Admins view and change billing information or close the account. Owners and Admins can edit billing details and close the account, while Managers, Authors, and Viewers cannot access billing or perform closure. If you don’t see Account & billing, Manage my plan, or Delete my account, you’re likely not an Owner or Admin and must ask someone with that role to complete cancellation. Account interfaces may also look different if the account was set up through QuickBooks or another Intuit product, but the billing permissions remain tied to the Owner/Admin roles.
- Mailchimp’s documentation separates stopping future charges from receiving money back. Refunds are rare and usually limited to system errors, unjustified terminations, or explicitly described guarantees for certain annual plans and promotions.
Keep enough proof for a focused follow-up
- Save the confirmation, effective date, and billing receipt.
- Capture the plan, renewal date, and company shown on the receipt.
- Challenge only a specific unresolved charge or cancellation result.

How Pine helps with Mailchimp
A practical workflow for moving from a messy support problem to a clear request.
Step 01
Open Account & billing
Sign in to Mailchimp in a desktop browser. Click your profile icon and choose **Account & billing** or **Account**, depending on what your navigation shows. This opens your account-level area where billing, plan management, and data export options live.
Step 02
Open Settings
From the Account & billing (or Account) area, find the **Settings** drop-down menu. Open it and select **Manage my plan**. This takes you to a dedicated page where you can see your current Marketing plan, pause options, and the control to delete the account.
Step 03
Choose Pause or delete account
On the **Manage my plan** page, review the **Temporarily pause my Marketing plan** section if you want to stop monthly Marketing billing but keep your account and data. Pausing is available for 3 or 6 months, is limited to two pauses every 12 months, keeps your audiences and reports accessible, and leaves any Websites plan active. If you’re sure you want to leave Mailchimp entirely, locate the **Delete my account** option instead.
Step 04
Select permanently delete and complete confirmation
If you decide to fully cancel, click **Delete my account**. Work through any suggestions or support offers, then click **Continue to delete**. Confirm by entering your password and typing **DELETE** in the fields shown, then click **Permanently delete**. Mailchimp requires that any outstanding balance be paid before deletion, and once deleted your account is permanently closed and Mailchimp removes data associated with audiences, campaign archives, and reports; it cannot be restored later.
