Web

Use these steps if you are an admin cancelling a self‑serve Professional team or initiating plan changes for an Organization or Enterprise account from the Figma file browser in a desktop browser or the Figma desktop app. All subscription, seat, and invoice changes begin in the Admin area and its Billing or Settings tabs.

How Pine helps with Figma

A practical workflow for moving from a messy support problem to a clear request.

Step 01

Open the organization or team admin settings

In a desktop browser, go to figma.com and sign in, then return to the file browser if you are currently inside a file. In the left sidebar, click the team or organization whose paid plan you want to stop, then choose the 'Admin' option; if you do not see 'Admin', your account does not have permission to manage billing for that workspace.

Step 02

Open Billing

From the Admin view, open the 'Billing' tab to see a summary of the current plan, upcoming invoice dates, and the number of paid seats. On some Professional teams, you may instead open the 'Settings' tab first and then scroll to the Plan and Billing section, which links into the same billing overview. Confirm you are looking at the correct team or organization.

Step 03

Choose the lower plan or cancellation path

In the plan or billing area, locate the control to stop the paid plan. On Professional teams this appears as a 'Cancel plan' link or a 'Downgrade to a Starter team' action in the Plan section; use it and follow the on‑screen prompts. For Organization and Enterprise plans, use the Billing tab’s guidance or embedded links to contact Figma during the allowed renewal window to request a downgrade or cancellation under your contract.

Step 04

Review seats and confirm

Before confirming, review the Billing overview to check current seat counts, upcoming invoices, and how your projects and files compare to Starter limits. Move or export any work you still need, and consider reducing unnecessary paid seats first if you plan to stay on a paid plan. When you submit the cancellation reason and confirm, Figma applies any final prorated seat charges on your last invoice, keeps paid features active until the billing period ends, and then downgrades the team to a Starter plan.

Figma FAQs

Short answers for the questions people usually ask before starting.

Yes. For self‑serve Professional teams, admins can cancel at any time from the Admin area by using the plan section’s 'Cancel plan' or 'Downgrade to a Starter team' option. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, when the team becomes a free Starter team; payments already made for that period are normally non‑refundable.
When a Professional team downgrades to Starter, it is limited to one project and a small number of editable files per Figma product in that project. If your team exceeds those limits, editing is locked until you move or archive files to fit within Starter quotas. Any Figma Sites or Figma Make apps published from that team are automatically unpublished during the downgrade.
After you start cancellation for a Professional team, the Admin › Billing or Settings view shows that the team is scheduled to move to Starter at the end of the billing period, and the current plan label reflects this. When the period ends, the team is listed as a free Starter team, and future invoices no longer include Professional plan charges.
Organization and Enterprise subscriptions are managed by organization admins and often purchased via annual contracts. Admins handle invoicing and seats from the Billing tab, but documentation indicates plan downgrades or cancellations generally occur during a 30‑day renewal window and may require contacting Figma Support or your account team rather than clicking a simple Cancel button.
Downgrading a Professional team to Starter stops the plan from renewing, but seats are still billed through the end of the current term. Figma bills for both assigned and unassigned paid seats, so if you simply remove users without reducing seat counts at renewal, those seats may renew. Use the seat‑review workflows around renewal to remove unused seats.
Figma’s Help Center and pricing FAQ say subscription payments are non‑refundable, and cancelling normally only prevents future renewals while keeping access through the end of the term. Legal renewal terms describe limited exceptions, such as when prices change or specific online purchases qualify for termination rights, but those are narrow and usually require contacting Support within defined windows.
Not effectively. Figma’s mobile app is designed for viewing, commenting, and presenting prototypes, while billing tools live in the Admin and Billing areas of the file browser. Official billing and payment articles assume you are using the web or desktop app, so to cancel or downgrade a plan you should sign in from a desktop browser or the Figma desktop client.
AI credit subscriptions and paid Community resources are billed separately. On Professional plans, AI subscriptions renew monthly and must be changed or cancelled from the Admin AI credits view; Org and Enterprise AI subscriptions can only be downgraded during the contract renewal window. Paid Community files and some plugin subscriptions are managed from the Community tab or your Stripe customer portal and do not automatically end when you cancel seats.
