Assumptions used

  • Common short-stay boundary: South Carolina guidance describes the short-stay boundary in consecutive days rather than an exact number of nights. The calculator does not infer a night cap; verify occupancy dates and longer-stay exemptions with the official authority.
  • Deterministic state or common base: The room charge plus one mandatory-fee input is used only where the cited official lodging guidance establishes that common taxable base.

What may change the final amount

  • Town accommodations and beach-preservation taxes remain outside the state base. The current Town Revenue Services page documents a 3% local accommodations stack on gross sales (1% accommodations tax plus 2% beach preservation), while the SCDOR table says local administration is separate. The displayed calculator intentionally excludes this Town-administered layer.
