Monthly Payment Memberships
The official cancellation page is written primarily for monthly payment members. It presents a stay offer first and says the 30% discount applies to the next 3 months of dues. It also says the offer is only available to members with Monthly Payment memberships.
If you have a monthly payment membership:
- sign in from the cancellation page rather than starting from a generic website search
- note the next monthly billing date before you submit the request
- capture the final confirmation screen
- keep the account email and home club tied to the request
- check whether an annual fee is still scheduled under your membership agreement
If the online flow fails or does not show the correct membership, contact the local club or submit the Contact Us form with the account email, membership type, home club, and a clear request to cancel future billing.
Limited-Term and Prepaid Memberships
24 Hour Fitness separates limited-term and prepaid memberships from the monthly payment offer. The cancellation page says those members should see a team member in club or contact 24 Hour Fitness.
For these plans, bring or include:
| Detail |
Why it matters |
| Member name and account email |
Helps staff locate the correct agreement |
| Home club |
Connects the request to the club that can review the account |
| Membership type |
Shows whether the account is prepaid, limited-term, or monthly |
| Agreement date and term |
Helps answer whether any remaining value, freeze, or term extension applies |
| Payment proof |
Helps separate a prepaid balance from recurring billing |
| Desired outcome |
Cancel future access, stop future charges, confirm term end, or request a freeze |
Ask for written confirmation of the result. If staff say the membership cannot be canceled online, ask which agreement term controls the remaining membership period and whether a freeze is available.
Freeze Instead of Canceling
A freeze may be better than cancellation if you expect to return and meet the freeze policy. The 24 Hour Fitness Membership Freeze Policy says the account must be in good standing, initiation fees must be paid, dues and the Annual Fee must be current, and you must provide at least 10 days' notice.
The policy lists these qualifying freeze circumstances:
| Freeze reason |
Current policy range |
Documentation |
| Medical Disability |
3 to 6 months |
Written verification from a physician |
| Extended Volunteer Assignment |
3 to 6 months |
Assignment or volunteer orders |
| Temporary Employment Transfer |
3 to 6 months |
Employer letter showing a temporary transfer more than 25 miles from the nearest accessible 24 Hour Fitness location |
| Active Duty Military Transfer |
No stated minimum or maximum |
Transfer or deployment orders |
| Extended Freeze for other reasons |
Up to 12 months |
Ask club/support what documentation is required |
If you freeze during a commitment period, the policy says the commitment period and obligation are extended by the time the membership is frozen. During an approved freeze, dues are not collected and club access is suspended, but the Annual Fee plus applicable taxes may still be due while the membership remains in effect.
For prepaid memberships, the policy says the prepaid term is extended for the same period as the freeze. Except for military freezes longer than 6 months or with no set end date, the policy says the membership reactivates automatically and monthly EFT or credit card charges resume at the end of the freeze period.
Billing, Annual Fees, and Refund Expectations
24 Hour Fitness gym membership billing depends on the membership agreement, membership type, and timing of the request. The public cancellation page confirms different handling for monthly payment versus limited-term or prepaid memberships, but it does not publish one universal refund promise for every gym membership type.
Use this checklist before cancellation:
- next monthly dues date
- annual fee date
- commitment period end date, if any
- prepaid or limited-term expiration date
- cancellation submission date
- written confirmation date
- final access date
- last card or bank statement showing 24 Hour Fitness billing
If a charge appears after cancellation, first send 24 Hour Fitness the dated cancellation proof and statement details. If the charge is on a credit card and you believe it is a billing error, the FTC says written billing-error notices generally must reach the card issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Use the billing inquiry address from the card issuer, include copies of supporting records, and keep your own copy.
24GO Paid App Subscriptions
The 24 Hour Fitness Terms of Use separate gym memberships from online services and app subscriptions. If you bought a 24GO paid subscription through an app store, the Terms say billing is handled by the applicable app store provider and cancellation follows that provider's instructions.
For Apple or Google billing:
- open the Apple ID or Google account that made the purchase
- find the active 24GO paid subscription
- cancel before the current subscription period renews
- save the app store confirmation
- keep the app store receipt
The Terms say that if you cancel a 24GO paid subscription before the end of the subscription period, 24 Hour Fitness does not return part of the subscription fee and access continues until the end of that subscription period.
This app-store route is for 24GO paid subscriptions. It is not the default route for a standard 24 Hour Fitness gym membership unless your receipt shows that the app store is the merchant of record for the paid subscription you want to stop.
Use the Contact Us page or your local club when the online cancellation flow does not fit your account. The Contact Us page asks for identifying information such as name, email, phone, club, reason, and request details. For account questions, use the same email and phone number tied to the membership when possible.
When contacting 24 Hour Fitness, include:
| Field |
What to provide |
| Account holder |
Full name on the membership |
| Account email |
Email used for the membership login |
| Phone |
Number on the account |
| Home club |
Club tied to the agreement |
| Membership type |
Monthly, prepaid, limited-term, corporate, or unknown |
| Request |
Cancel, freeze, confirm end date, or correct billing |
| Timing |
Next billing date, annual fee date, or requested freeze date |
| Proof |
Screenshot, statement, agreement, or previous support reply |
If you visit a club, ask for a written confirmation or follow-up email. If the club handles the request verbally, write down the date, time, staff name, club, and the exact result while it is still fresh.
Privacy Requests and Account Records
24 Hour Fitness publishes a website privacy policy for its website, mobile app, and other digital services. The policy says California and Colorado residents can request access, deletion, correction, opt out of sale or sharing, and other listed rights through a webform or by calling 1 (888) 914-9661 PIN 036085. It also lists a mailing address for privacy notice questions:
24 Hour Fitness, P.O. Box 2689, Carlsbad, CA 92018
For membership cancellation, a privacy deletion request is not a substitute for canceling billing. If you need both, cancel or resolve billing first, then submit the privacy request with enough information for verification.

What to Say When You Cancel
Use this script:
"I need to cancel my 24 Hour Fitness membership and stop future billing. My name is [name], the account email is [email], my home club is [club], and the membership type is [monthly/prepaid/limited-term/unknown]. Please confirm the cancellation date, final access date, whether any annual fee or remaining agreement obligation applies, and send written confirmation."
Useful follow-up questions:
- "Is this account a Monthly Payment membership, prepaid membership, limited-term membership, or something else?"
- "What is the next billing date?"
- "Is an Annual Fee scheduled after the cancellation date?"
- "Will cancellation stop future EFT or card charges?"
- "What is the final day of club access?"
- "If this account cannot be canceled online, which agreement term controls the next step?"
- "Would a freeze apply, and what documentation do you need?"
