How to Cancel Your Wall Street Journal Subscription (2025)

Thinking about canceling your Wall Street Journal subscription? You're not alone. Founded way back in 1889, the WSJ is a titan of financial news, but maybe the cost isn't worth it anymore, or you're just not reading it. Let's be real, with all the talk about media empires, sometimes you just feel like you're living in an episode of 'Succession' and need to cut back on expenses. This guide will help you cancel without the headache. Subscriptions can run from $4 to $50 a month, and canceling could save you up to $600 a year. We'll cover how to do it on your desktop, iOS, and Android devices.

How to Cancel Wall Street Journal on iPhone (iOS)

If you subscribed to the Wall Street Journal through the Apple App Store, you have to cancel it through your iPhone's settings. WSJ can't cancel it for you. It's an Apple thing.

1 Open the Settings App

Find and tap the gray Settings icon on your iPhone's home screen.

2 Access Your Apple ID

Tap on your name and profile picture at the very top of the Settings menu. This takes you to your Apple ID, iCloud, and subscription settings.

3 Navigate to Subscriptions

On the Apple ID screen, tap on Subscriptions. You'll see a list of all your active and expired subscriptions linked to your Apple account.

4 Find and Select Wall Street Journal

Scroll through the list until you find the Wall Street Journal subscription. Tap on it to open the details page.

5 Cancel Your Subscription

Tap the red Cancel Subscription button at the bottom of the screen. You'll be asked to confirm your choice. Once confirmed, your subscription will not renew at the end of the current billing cycle.

How to Cancel Wall Street Journal on Android

For subscriptions made via the Google Play Store, the cancellation process is handled entirely within the Play Store app. You cannot cancel a Google Play subscription on the WSJ website.

1 Open the Google Play Store

Launch the Google Play Store app on your Android device. It's the primary hub for managing app-based subscriptions.

2 Go to Your Profile

Tap on your profile icon or initial in the top-right corner of the screen.

3 Manage Subscriptions

In the menu that appears, select Payments & subscriptions, and then tap on Subscriptions. This will show you all subscriptions managed by Google Play.

4 Locate the WSJ Subscription

Find the Wall Street Journal in your list of active subscriptions and tap on it.

5 Proceed with Cancellation

Tap Cancel subscription at the bottom of the screen. Google Play will ask for a reason, just pick one and continue. Follow the final prompts to confirm the cancellation.

How to Cancel Wall Street Journal on Desktop or Laptop

This is the most common method, especially if you signed up directly on their website. Be prepared for a few extra steps designed to make you reconsider.

1 Visit the WSJ Website and Log In

Open your web browser and go to the official Wall Street Journal website. Click Sign In at the top right and enter your credentials.

2 Access the Customer Center

Once logged in, click on your name in the top-right corner to open a dropdown menu. Select Customer Center. This is where all your account management tools are located.

3 Find Your Subscription Details

In the Customer Center, look for a section called My Account or Manage Subscriptions. Click on it to view your current plan details.

4 Initiate the Cancellation

You should see an option to Cancel Subscription. Click this link. Honestly, sometimes this link feels intentionally hard to find.

5 Decline Retention Offers

WSJ will almost certainly present you with one or more special offers to convince you to stay. If you're sure you want to cancel, you'll need to decline these offers and proceed with the cancellation.

6 Confirm Cancellation

Follow the final on-screen instructions to confirm that you want to end your subscription. Make sure you get to a final confirmation page or receive a confirmation email.

Cancel Wall Street Journal by Phone

If the online process is giving you a headache, you can always call them. It's a bit old-school, but it works.

  • Phone Number: 1-800-JOURNAL (1-800-568-7625)
  • Hours of Operation: Representatives are generally available Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM ET, and on weekends from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM ET.

Have your account information ready before you call. Be polite but firm, and be prepared to say "no" to their retention offers.

Before You Cancel: What You Should Know

  • Refunds: Don't expect one. The Wall Street Journal's terms state that subscriptions are non-refundable. When you cancel, you simply retain access until the end of your current paid billing period.
  • Pausing Your Subscription: WSJ does offer a "vacation hold" for print subscriptions, allowing you to temporarily suspend delivery. For digital, this option is not typically available. You either have access or you don't.
  • Data and Account: Cancelling your subscription does not delete your WSJ account. Your login will still work, but you will lose access to subscriber-only content.

Having Trouble Cancelling Your Wall Street Journal Subscription?

It's not just you. Sometimes cancelling can be frustrating. Here are a few things to try if you're stuck:

  • Check Your Biller: Did you subscribe through Apple, Google, or another third party? If so, you must cancel through them. WSJ cannot cancel a subscription billed by another company.
  • Use a Desktop Computer: Many users report that the cancellation options are easier to find and use on the desktop website compared to the mobile site or app.
  • Clear Your Cache or Use Incognito Mode: Sometimes website glitches can be solved by clearing your browser's cache and cookies or by trying the process in an incognito/private window.
  • Just Call Them: If the website seems to be sending you in circles, picking up the phone is often the most direct way to get it done. Contact customer support at 1-800-JOURNAL.
