How to Cancel Your Wall Street Journal Subscription (2025)

Thinking about canceling your Wall Street Journal subscription? You're not alone. Founded way back in 1889, the WSJ is a titan of financial news, but maybe the cost isn't worth it anymore, or you're just not reading it. Let's be real, with all the talk about media empires, sometimes you just feel like you're living in an episode of 'Succession' and need to cut back on expenses. This guide will help you cancel without the headache. Subscriptions can run from $4 to $50 a month, and canceling could save you up to $600 a year. We'll cover how to do it on your desktop, iOS, and Android devices.

How to Cancel Wall Street Journal Subscription on Desktop

This is the most common way to cancel, but they don't make it a one-click process. You'll have to navigate through a few menus and almost certainly decline a 'special offer' before you're free. I had to refresh the page once because the final confirmation button didn't load. So, be patient.

1 Log Into Your WSJ Account

Go to the official Wall Street Journal website and log into your account. The login button is usually at the top right.

2 Navigate to the Customer Center

Once logged in, click on your name or the profile icon to open the menu. Find and select "Customer Center". Sometimes this is hidden, so you might have to look around a bit.

3 Find Your Subscription

In the Customer Center, look for a section called "My Account" and then click on "Manage Subscriptions". This is where the magic happens.

4 Click 'Cancel Subscription'

You should see your active subscription listed. Click the "Cancel Subscription" link. Be prepared, they don't make it easy. You'll likely face a few pop-ups with special offers to try and keep you. Just keep clicking 'No, thanks' or 'Continue to Cancel'.

5 Confirm the Cancellation

After declining the retention offers, you'll need to confirm your cancellation. Make sure you get to a final confirmation screen and check your email for a cancellation notice. Without that email, it might not have gone through.

How to Cancel Wall Street Journal Subscription on iOS

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, you must cancel it there. Canceling on the WSJ website won't work. It's a common mistake people make.

1 Open Settings

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

2 Tap Your Apple ID

Tap on your Apple ID at the very top of the screen (it's the one with your name and picture).

3 Go to Subscriptions

Select "Subscriptions" from the list.

4 Select Wall Street Journal

Find and tap on your Wall Street Journal subscription in the list of active subscriptions.

5 Tap 'Cancel Subscription'

Tap the "Cancel Subscription" button and confirm your choice. That's it. Much easier than their website.

How to Cancel Wall Street Journal Subscription on Android

Just like with Apple, if you signed up through Google Play, you have to cancel it there. The WSJ website can't touch a Google Play subscription.

1 Open the Play Store

Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.

2 Tap Your Profile Icon

Tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner.

3 Go to Payments & Subscriptions

Select "Payments & subscriptions" and then tap on "Subscriptions".

4 Find Your WSJ Subscription

Find the Wall Street Journal subscription in your list and tap on it.

5 Tap 'Cancel Subscription'

Tap "Cancel subscription" at the bottom and follow the prompts to confirm. Weirdly, this worked on my phone but a friend said it didn't show up on their tablet, so stick to your phone if you can.

Cancel Wall Street Journal Subscription with phone

Phone Number: 1-800-JOURNAL (1-800-568-7625) Hours: Available 24/7, but expect longer wait times during peak hours.

Be ready for a sales pitch. The main reason they want you to call is so a retention specialist can try to talk you out of it. A user on Trustpilot mentioned, 'I had to say no three times to three different offers. It was exhausting.' Just be firm and repeat that you want to cancel.

Cancel Wall Street Journal Subscription with live chat

You can find a Live Chat option within the WSJ Customer Center. It's often faster than calling.

  1. Log into your account and go to the Customer Center.
  2. Look for a 'Chat' or 'Contact Us' button.
  3. You'll likely chat with a bot first, just type 'Speak to an agent' to get a real person.
  4. They will still try to offer you discounts, but it's easier to type 'No, thank you' than to say it on the phone.

Before you cancel, know that WSJ subscriptions are generally non-refundable. When you cancel, you'll keep your access until the end of your current billing cycle. They also offer a 'vacation hold' or suspension if you just want to take a break, which you can find in the same 'Manage Subscriptions' area. Your account data won't be deleted, you just lose access.
