How to Cancel Financial Times Subscription

The Financial Times, or FT, has been a giant in global business news since 1888. It's the go-to for in-depth analysis. But maybe you signed up to feel like a character from Succession and now the hefty bill is here. With subscription prices ranging from $40 to $75 a month, you can save up to $900 a year by canceling. This guide covers how to cancel your subscription on desktop, iOS, and Android without the headache.

How to Cancel Financial Times Subscription on Desktop

This is the main way to cancel if you signed up directly on the Financial Times website. Honestly, it's the most reliable method. Trying to do it from the mobile app often just redirects you back to the website anyway.

1 Log In to Your FT.com Account

Head over to FT.com and log into your account. This seems obvious, but sometimes just finding the login page is the first hurdle.

2 Navigate to Account Settings

Click your name or the profile icon in the top-right corner. From the dropdown menu, select Settings & Account. Don't get lost in the other options.

3 Find Your Subscription Details

Inside your account dashboard, look for a section or tab labeled Subscription & Delivery. I had to hunt for this for a minute, it's not always obvious.

4 Click 'Cancel Subscription' and Confirm

You should see a link that says Cancel Subscription. They might make it small. Click it and be ready to click through at least one or two more pages asking if you're really sure you want to leave.

How to Cancel Financial Times Subscription on iOS

This only works if you originally subscribed through the Apple App Store. If you paid on the FT website, these steps won't work for you, and the subscription won't even be listed here. A common and annoying point of confusion.

1 Open iPhone/iPad Settings

Open the main Settings app on your device. Not the settings inside the FT app.

2 Select Your Apple ID

Tap your name and Apple ID at the very top of the Settings screen.

3 Go to Subscriptions

From the list, tap on Subscriptions. You'll see all your active and expired app subscriptions here.

4 Find FT and Cancel

Find the Financial Times in your list of active subscriptions. Tap on it, then hit the Cancel Subscription button. That's it.

How to Cancel Financial Times Subscription on Android

Just like with iOS, this method is only for subscriptions started through the Google Play Store. If you signed up on a desktop browser, you have to go back to the FT website to cancel.

1 Open the Google Play Store

Launch the Google Play Store app on your Android phone or tablet.

2 Tap Your Profile Icon

Tap on your profile picture in the top-right corner to open the menu.

3 Navigate to Subscriptions

In the menu, select Payments & subscriptions, and then on the next screen, tap Subscriptions.

4 Locate FT and Cancel

Find the Financial Times subscription from the list, tap on it, and then select Cancel subscription. Follow any final prompts to confirm.

Cancel Financial Times Subscription with phone

You can call their US customer service at +1-800-628-8088. They are typically available Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM ET. Be prepared for a potential wait time and a conversation where they might try to convince you to stay.

Cancel Financial Times Subscription with email

Send an email to customerservice.us@ft.com. This method is slower, and you might not get a response for a couple of business days. It's a good option if you want a written record of your cancellation request.

Before you cancel, know this: FT does not offer refunds for partially used subscription periods. Your access will continue until the end of your current billing cycle. The good news? They offer a 'pause' option, so you can suspend your subscription for up to 3 months if you just need a temporary break. Your account and data won't be deleted, you'll just lose access to premium articles.
