Should you contact TIME first?

Use this TIME check to choose between an official account action and help preparing a clearer follow-up.

  1. Confirm the billing owner before canceling

    • Cancel TIME with the billing owner shown on the receipt. TIME direct subscriptions can be canceled online, by calling TIME Customer Service, or by emailing CANCEL in the subject line with the account number and subscription details; Apple- or Google-billed subscriptions use those store accounts. Use a TIME direct route only when TIME owns the charge. TIME states that refunds are controlled by the accepted offer; current digital checkout terms describe a pro rata paid-term refund for an annual digital subscription, subject to the payment-method policy.
    • Use the billing owner shown on your TIME receipt or account before following a cancellation path. Keep the final status, confirmation email, and effective date for any later billing dispute.
    • For TIME subscriptions billed through Apple or Google Play, cancellation stops future renewals but does not by itself guarantee a refund; any money back is governed by each platform’s own refund policies and review processes rather than by TIME alone.
  2. Keep enough proof for a focused follow-up

    • Save the confirmation, effective date, and billing receipt.
    • Capture the plan, renewal date, and company shown on the receipt.
    • Challenge only a specific unresolved charge or cancellation result.

TIME FAQs

Short answers for the questions people usually ask before starting.

First identify the billing owner. A subscription billed directly by TIME can be canceled in the TIME account, by calling TIME Customer Service, or by emailing customerservice@time.com with CANCEL in the subject and the account number and subscription details. Apple- or Google-billed subscriptions use the corresponding store account.
If Apple is the billing owner, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose TIME, and use Cancel Subscription. If TIME is not listed under Apple subscriptions, use the direct TIME or other merchant route shown by the receipt.
To cancel TIME on Android, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then tap Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Select the TIME subscription, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts. Google notes that uninstalling the TIME app does not cancel billing, so always use the Subscriptions screen instead.
You can submit a cancellation for TIME at any time, but Apple and Google generally stop future renewals while keeping your access through the already‑paid billing period, rather than ending it instantly. After you cancel, TIME should remain usable until that period expires; for urgent disputes, you may also request a refund from Apple or Google under their policies.
No, deleting the TIME app does not cancel your subscription. Google Play’s help pages explicitly warn that uninstalling an app won’t stop an active subscription, and Apple similarly requires you to cancel from your Apple ID’s Subscriptions screen. Always manage TIME under Subscriptions in Settings (Apple) or Google Play to stop renewals.
After you cancel, Apple and Google normally let you keep access to TIME until the end of the current billing period, but they stop further renewals. Their subscription policies explain that cancellation affects future charges, not the time you’ve already paid for. Once the period ends, subscriber‑only TIME content may stop updating or become unavailable.
Refunds depend on the billing owner and the offer you accepted. TIME’s current digital checkout says an annual subscription canceled during a paid term receives a pro rata refund for the remaining term, subject to the payment-method policy. Apple and Google purchases use their own refund processes.
To see who is billing you for TIME, search your email for receipts and check your subscriptions in Apple and Google Play. If TIME is listed under Settings → your name → Subscriptions, Apple is the biller; if it appears under Subscriptions in Google Play, Google is. If you don’t see it in either place, use the merchant name on your card or bank statement to find the correct company to contact.
Use the merchant shown on the receipt. A TIME-owned charge can be canceled through the official TIME account, phone, or email routes; an Apple- or Google-owned charge must be canceled in that store. If another retailer owns the charge, use that retailer’s current process rather than an inferred TIME account screen.
