Web

Use this flow if your Asana subscription or trial is managed directly by Asana through the web Admin console. It applies to most self-serve, card-billed plans and to manually invoiced contracts where the Billing tab includes a Contact support option for cancellation or non‑renewal requests.

How Pine helps with Asana

A practical workflow for moving from a messy support problem to a clear request.

Step 01

Open the Admin console

Sign in to Asana in a desktop browser, click your profile photo in the top-right corner, and confirm you are in the correct workspace or organization for the subscription you want to change. From that same menu, choose Admin console to open the admin controls for that specific space.

Step 02

Open Billing

Inside the Admin console, look at the left-hand navigation (or tabs) and select Billing. This takes you to the central billing page where billing owners and admins can view plan details, invoices, payment methods, seat utilization, and controls to change or cancel the current plan.

Step 03

Choose Cancel plan

On the Billing page, locate the Plan details area. If your plan is self-serve, you will typically see a Cancel plan button (for paid tiers) or Cancel trial (for active trials); click the option that matches what you want to stop. For manually invoiced plans, use the Contact support or Contact billing link in Billing to request cancellation or non‑renewal for the next term.

Step 04

Review the downgrade and confirm

Review the on-screen message showing when your cancellation or downgrade will take effect (normally at your next renewal date) and which tier you will move to, such as reverting to Asana Personal. Before confirming, note any warnings about losing access to paid features or to projects that rely on them, export any needed data to CSV, then complete the confirmation and save or screenshot the final confirmation screen for your records.

Asana FAQs

Short answers for the questions people usually ask before starting.

To cancel an online, self-serve Asana subscription, sign in on the web, open the Admin console for the correct workspace or organization, and go to the Billing tab. Under Plan details, select Cancel plan and follow the prompts. Your cancellation takes effect at the next renewal date, and access to paid features continues until the end of the current billing period.
Asana states that only the billing owner, admin, or super admin of a paid organization, division, or workspace can cancel that subscription in the Admin console. If you do not see Billing or Cancel plan, you likely lack those permissions or are in the wrong space, and you’ll need to ask the appropriate admin or billing owner to make the change.
According to Asana’s cancellation FAQ, canceling a paid plan does not end service immediately; the change takes effect at your next renewal date. You retain access to paid features until the end of the current billing period, after which the workspace or organization downgrades to the specified free or lower tier and premium features are removed.
If you added payment details to your trial, Asana instructs you to cancel it via the Admin console: open Billing and select Cancel trial or Cancel plan under Plan details before the trial expiration date. As long as you cancel on or before that date, your account will not be charged, and you keep paid features until the trial ends.
Asana explains that downgrading from a paid tier to the free Asana Personal plan removes access to paid features like rules, goals, and portfolios, and you may lose access to projects or tasks that depend on those features. Your underlying data is not deleted, and Asana notes you can still export affected projects and tasks to CSV for record-keeping.
Yes. From the Billing tab, billing owners and admins can change plan tier or adjust subscription size, and Asana’s Subscriber Terms describe how reductions or downgrades take effect at renewal when proper notice is given. You may need to provide written notice at least 30 days before term end so changes apply on the next Renewal Date.
For manually invoiced plans, Asana’s cancellation article tells billing owners and admins to use the Contact support or Contact billing option in the Billing tab to request changes or cancellation for the next renewal term. If you purchased through a Channel Partner or marketplace, Asana’s Subscriber Terms say refund and service-credit claims must be handled by that partner, so you’ll usually cancel through them.
No. Canceling or downgrading a subscription only changes billing and feature access for a specific workspace, division, or organization; your user account remains and can still belong to other spaces. Deleting an Asana account is separate and, for paid spaces, requires coordination with a billing owner, admin, or super admin and Asana Support, as described in the account-deletion article.
