Confirm the billing owner before canceling
- To cancel a Squarespace website subscription, sign in on the web, open the site’s Billing panel, and select the Website (or Store) subscription under Subscriptions. Click Cancel subscription, choose whether to end service immediately with a refund if you’re in the annual-plan refund window or at the end of the billing cycle, and confirm. Domains, Google Workspace, and other add-ons remain billed until you cancel those subscriptions separately.
- Squarespace lets only the site Owner, Administrators, and contributors with Billing permission change or cancel website subscriptions from the Billing panel. Other contributor roles can’t access billing controls. If your site or domain was purchased through a third-party reseller instead of directly from Squarespace, that reseller controls website and domain auto-renewal and must process cancellations for those resold subscriptions.
- Squarespace’s refund rules distinguish sharply between annual and monthly website plans, between first-time purchases and renewals, and between Squarespace-billed subscriptions and Mobile Start plans billed through Apple. Understanding those boundaries helps you time cancellation correctly and know when requesting a refund is realistic under their policies.
Keep enough proof for a focused follow-up
- Save the confirmation, effective date, and billing receipt.
- Capture the plan, renewal date, and company shown on the receipt.
- Challenge only a specific unresolved charge or cancellation result.

How Pine helps with Squarespace
A practical workflow for moving from a messy support problem to a clear request.
Step 01
Open the site dashboard
Go to the Squarespace login page in a browser, sign in, and open your account dashboard. From the list of sites, choose the specific website you want to stop paying for so its site dashboard and left-hand navigation open. Make sure you’re using an account with Owner, Admin, or Billing permissions on this site, or you won’t see full billing options.
Step 02
Open Billing
In the site dashboard, open the site settings area (for example, by clicking the settings gear at the bottom of the navigation) and select the Billing panel. This opens a page showing the site’s active subscriptions, invoices, and payment details so you can manage website billing separately from domains, Google Workspace, and other services.
Step 03
Select the website subscription
In the Billing panel, look for the Subscriptions section and click the Website or Store subscription (the entry that represents the website plan you want to cancel). Confirm that the plan name and billing cycle shown here match the site and subscription you intend to stop so you don’t accidentally change billing for another site or add-on.
Step 04
Choose Cancel subscription and confirm
With the website subscription open, click Cancel subscription. Review the cancellation details page and, if offered, choose Retain Access to let the site stay online until the end of the current billing cycle or Get Refund Immediately to end service right away with a refund if your annual plan is still within the published refund window. Continue through the survey screens, review the Your other subscriptions panel, and click Cancel subscription again to finalize. Afterward, visiting your site from any domain will show a “Website expired” message, and in Billing you’ll see the subscription marked ended with an option to resubscribe instead of cancel.
