You can cancel a Google Workspace subscription at any time, but the financial impact depends on your payment plan. On the Flexible Plan, Google’s documentation says you can cancel without penalty and pay only for days used. On the Annual/Fixed‑Term Plan, canceling before renewal triggers a charge for the remaining contract balance and no refunds for that committed amount.

When you cancel Workspace, Google warns that users’ Workspace data—such as Gmail, Calendar, Chat, and Drive content—will be deleted and cannot be restored, so you should export data before canceling. For email‑verified subscriptions, you can instead choose an option that keeps My Drive data by converting users to unmanaged consumer accounts, while shared drives and organizational structures may still be deleted.

If you purchased Workspace through a reseller, you can’t complete cancellation in the Google Admin console; Google’s help page explicitly directs you to separate reseller instructions. You may receive a refund only in specific circumstances. However, payments that fulfill an Annual/Fixed‑Term commitment are not refunded if you cancel mid‑term.

Before canceling, Google advises exporting any user data you want to keep because Workspace data will be deleted and cannot be restored. Canceling Workspace does not automatically cancel your domain registration or other subscriptions managed in the same Admin console.
