Confirm the billing owner before canceling
- To cancel a paid Trello Standard or Premium Workspace, you must use Trello on the web as a Workspace admin. Open the correct Workspace, go to its Billing page, then either use the Cancel option (legacy billing) or Change plan and choose the Free plan (centralized billing). The Workspace subscription stops renewing and automatically downgrades to the free plan at the end of the current billing period; paid features continue only until that date.
- Trello bills Standard and Premium plans at the Workspace level, not per personal account. Only Workspace administrators can change or cancel a Standard or Premium Workspace plan from the Billing page in the web app. With centralized billing, Workspace admin and billing admin are separate roles, so some organizations may also require an Atlassian billing administrator to manage payments. Deleting your Atlassian/Trello account or deleting a multi‑member Workspace does not by itself cancel an active Workspace subscription; the paid plan must be cancelled first.
- Trello’s billing guide mentions a limited refund right for recent Workspace upgrades. Refunds are not described as automatic and are tied to a short window after the upgrade date, with more specific terms provided in Atlassian’s separate refunds information.
Keep enough proof for a focused follow-up
- Save the confirmation, effective date, and billing receipt.
- Capture the plan, renewal date, and company shown on the receipt.
- Challenge only a specific unresolved charge or cancellation result.

Web
Use this path when your Trello Standard or Premium Workspace is billed directly through Trello or Atlassian’s centralized billing. All subscription changes and cancellations must be done from a supported web browser; Trello’s desktop and mobile apps do not currently support subscription management.
How Pine helps with Trello
A practical workflow for moving from a messy support problem to a clear request.
Step 01
Open the Workspace
In a supported desktop browser, go to trello.com and sign in. Click the Trello logo to open your home page, then use the left sidebar to select the specific Workspace whose paid plan you want to cancel. Remember that each Workspace has its own subscription, and only that Workspace’s admin will later see Billing and cancellation controls.
Step 02
Open Billing
With the Workspace selected, look in the left sidebar (or Workspace menu) and choose Settings if needed, then select Billing. This opens the Workspace’s billing page, where admins can view payments and manage the subscription. The billing page is only available via the web interface and only when the Workspace has payment information on file.
Step 03
Use the cancellation link
Scroll to the bottom of the Billing page. If your Workspace uses Trello’s legacy billing, you’ll see a Cancel option; select it to start cancellation. If your Workspace uses centralized billing, you’ll see a Change plan button instead—select Change plan, review the plan options, and choose the Free plan to schedule a downgrade. Both flows are accessed from the same Billing area.
Step 04
Review the free-plan downgrade and confirm
After you choose Cancel or the Free plan, Trello schedules your Workspace to downgrade at the end of the current billing period; until then, your paid Standard or Premium features remain available. When the downgrade happens, only the 10 most active boards stay open while other boards are closed (not deleted), collaborators may be limited on free boards, and data from paid features is hidden but not removed. Export or move any boards and data you need before the downgrade date, then verify on the Billing page that the Workspace is set to move to the free plan.
